The Len Johnson Charity Match
Who is Len Johnson?
Who is Len Johnson? He may be the most famous British sportsman you’ve never heard of. During the 1920’s and 1930’s, Len was the world’s best Middleweight boxer, but due to not having two white parents, the government and British Boxing ruled he could not hold any belts.
Later in his life, Len became an important activist for black political and social self-organisation in the city of Manchester, and campaigned against racism at home and abroad.
Each year we organise a charity match in Manchester, to raise awareness and funds for a statue of Len to be erected in Manchester 🙏🏽
